Returning to Genoa after twenty-five years to attend the funeral of his youth's best friend, Luca reunites with old companions. Everyone seems convinced that their friend's death is the expected outcome of a life of excesses. Everyone, except Luca, who wants to see clearly, investigate, understand. Delving into memory, and into a city changed as much as he has, he will bring to light ghosts and truths that seemed buried, along with his own true nature, which he thought he had tamed forever.
